Nottington University Faculty Lounge

This building takes advantage of it’s unusual layout. A faculty club, this building features a small wine bar, a soundproof music hall, a room of club chairs and a fireplace for the English and Classics profs to be in and finally a room for the philosophy profs ~ lounging area where works by such philosophers as Camus, Hegel, Chomsky and many others are read and discussed.

Nottington LaCave Restaurant

Inspired by a restaurant I used to frequent in my undergrad years that was in the basement floor of a building, the actual restaurant featured “caves” around the walls that were intimate and small. My “caves” are intended to be as close to them as I could get. Each one features a painting and many are wont to request a cave by the name of the painting. You can get a full meal, but their award winning cheesecake (in actual life it is award winning) is enough to plan an evening around.

Nottington University Off Campus Housing

This building is one of many scattered throughout the university. It houses a very serious artiste film major, a music major who hates the harp but is there on scholarship, a photography major who idolizes Annie Leibowitz and an English major who is surprisingly cheerful considering her favorite poets. Each room has its own entrance, bathroom and they all open onto a very small common room.

Nottington Campus Coffee House

This is one of many coffee shops scattered throughout the campus. No $6 coffees here ~ but there is some killer chocolate fudge cake made by the owners. There are several types of toppings for your coffee ~ cinnamon, chocolate shavings and such. Let’s pretend that the plates on the tables are coffee much shall we? Meet up with friends, grab a coffee between friends or catch up on your reading.

Nottington University Philosophy House

At NU many of the departments are housed of campus in houses. The phil house was in an old Victorian house and this is the first floor. As an Honors Philosophy major, I spent many hours in the seminar room in classes on ancient Greek philosophy (one of my favorites!), formal logic (HATED this one!) and 20th century Philosophy. The bubble text in the offices reflect the actual occupants.

Nottington University Early Childhood Development Center pt 1

More than a daycare, the NUECDC is proud to have many leaders in their fields on staff. Nottington’s children learn about various cultures, themselves and their world at large through activities, reading, videos and field trips. The staff are also trained in early diagnosis of childhood disorders and they work with the children and their parents to maximize each child’s potential and gift. It is our belief that each child has their own gift to offer the world and what many perceive as barriers as not seen as such by the NUECDC staff. Our goal is to work towards not only the child grasping fully the gifts they have to offer the world, but also that the world be open to the gifts of each child.

This space is the backyard of the NUECDC. Wyllow helps out with the small garden the children have planted and there are blackboards for the children to draw on. We also have a pool for water therapy and swimming and there is an adjustable basketball hoop (thanks MsKittie!) so that all the children can play basketball. There is also a play house where the children can read, make crafts or simply hang with their friends. Our staff to child ratio is 1-3 so each child gets the attention all children deserve.

The newest addition to NU ~ and Nottington at large ~ is named in honor of our Mayor, and founder, Glass. The Hall is wheelchair accessible and the red stools are for the sign language interpretors. There are also 2 small seminar rooms. If you are interested in giving a lecture or leading a seminar, please contact me.

Nottington University Multi-Denominational Faith Center

The newest on the NU campus, this center provides a place of faith, prayer and worship in keeping with Nottington’s mandate. The benches can be arranged in any way necessary ~ the only items not to be moved are the Muslim prayer rugs. I did my best to have them facing to Mecca.
